Financial Support

Background

The Society's mission is to provide and promote the knowledge and education of plastics and polymers worldwide. Over the past two years, the Mid-Michigan Section of SPE has developed some exciting education outreach programs targeted to elementary through high school age children in the Mid-Michigan area.

Objective

Secure commitments for financial support of Mid-Michigan SPE education outreach programs for the next five years, starting with the 2001-2002 school year.

Amount

Our five-year budget is $125,000. By year-end 2001, we had $25,000 commitments each from The Dow Chemical Company, The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, The Dow Corning Corporation and a $20,000 commitment from the Charles J. Strosacker Foundation. The Mid-Michigan Section of SPE has also committed to support these programs through internal fund raising activities.

These programs are having a positive impact on the local community, and the Mid-Michigan SPE is working to ensure that educational activities like these programs continue for the next several years. The largest portion of the expenses for these education outreach programs is for the PlastiVan ($5,000 per week).
